MMAX is filled automatically from public sources. This page says which ones, under which licence, and how they are credited — because a database of somebody else's work has to say whose work it is.
The rule
Every imported record keeps the source it came from and its external identifier. Nothing is displayed without that link.
We deep-link out to the source and credit it. We never re-host a video file, and we never present another organisation's data as our own.
Events, fighters and results
Cards, bouts, results, judges' scorecards and fighter records come from public sports data APIs and open encyclopaedic sources, reconciled into a single canonical entity per fighter and per event.
Biographies and portraits come from Wikipedia and Wikimedia Commons, under their own licences (CC BY-SA or public domain), with the author and licence stored alongside the file. A media file without a stored licence and attribution is not displayed at all.
Gyms
Gym data is aggregated from OpenStreetMap, © OpenStreetMap contributors, available under the Open Database Licence (ODbL), and from commercial place directories under their own terms.
A gym listing stays marked unverified until someone entitled to represent it claims it and confirms the details.
Videos
Videos are embedded through the host platform's official embed interface, and only when that platform declares the video embeddable. The creator and the channel are credited on every card.
No video file is copied, stored or re-served by MMAX. Removing a video at the source removes it here.
Sources we deliberately do not use
Some well-known MMA sites forbid automated collection in their terms of use. We do not scrape them, and no data of ours comes from them.
Linking out to those sites, with credit, remains normal and is what we do when they are the best destination for a reader.
A mistake, or a takedown
Data from external sources can be wrong. Report an error and it is corrected at the next import, or by hand when the source itself is wrong.
Rights holders can request removal through the verified legal contact channel when it is published on this site. We remove first and discuss afterwards.
A verified legal contact channel will be published before the public beta.
